Evaluations are completed in the natural environment. I use a wholistic and family-centered approach to develop a comprehensive view of the child and their support systems all while digging deep to identify underlying causes of day-to-day concerns. Standardized assessments, parent interviews, and clinical observations will be used to begin to put the pieces of the puzzle together and develop a prescriptive plan of care.
All services are provided in the natural environment. This may be in your home, backyard, neighborhood park, or even helping your child transition into daycare or shop at the grocery store! Providing services in the home and community creates a space to address concerns and growth in real-time and empowers parents and caregivers to be active participants in their child's progress. In my experience, incorporating therapeutic intervention into the child's daily routines in their own space, accelerates treatment profoundly.
If you are not ready to commit to OT or are not yet interested in a formal evaluation, I will offer in-person or virtual parent consultations. These will include an in-depth interview as well as an informal writtent proposed treatment plan and recommendations.
Additionally, follow-up consultative services may be provided if you think you may just need a few tools to add to your parenting toolbox, here and there!
Depending on your insurance coverage, telehealth may be covered for parent education, home programming, sensory diet development and implementation, parent-teacher conferences, paraprofessional collaboration, or even for parent coaching as needed.
Using principles from DIRFloortime Approach® and Conscious Discipline®, I provide education and facilitate parent and caregiver collaboration to involve parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process. Active participation in treatment allows parents and caregivers a change to practice strategies during treatment sessions and thus, feel more confident practicing strategies on their own!
If your child is struggling within the school or daycare environment, and their teachers or caregivers are seeking support to help with transitions, behaviors, emotional regulation, etc., I offer natural environment observations and screenings to identify functional limitations and develop recommendations and supports that may benefit the child and their classroom environment.
